Matsuda Japanese Restaurant

For Evon's birthday, I took her to enjoy her favourite Japanese cuisine at a place we normally do not visit - Kota Kemuning. Initially, I was thinking of taking her to Nihon Kai but ended up choosing Matsuda instead. Well, have to try new places, right?

I think you could tell what we ordered just by looking at the photos. We left the place feeling very satisfied with the service, the portion, the freshness of the seafood including the sashimi, and the flavours.

Texture of the unagi was to my liking, the used quality ingredients in their miso and did not skimp on the size of sashimi cuttings.

I wouldn't mind visiting again, just to try more things on their menu. I also liked how they priced their food. And the best part would be, plenty of parking.

Brew & Bread @ Kota Kemuning

I have to thank Jenny for living in Bukit Rimau because otherwise, I would never have known about Brew & Bread in neighbouring Kota Kemuning before Max and Cath. Anyways...

After that first visit with Jenny to Brew & Bread, the impression left in me was the rustic barn-like design of the place. It had thick straw ropes and long wooden beams that ran the entire length of the ceiling.

It was also the first place in KL that housed a coffee roaster. A Giesen, in fact.

They had a long counter with many coffee-related utensils, leading customers to think that they take their coffee pretty seriously.

And of course, it is almost compulsory to display their member plaque from the Speciality Coffee Association of Europe.

The pastries at Brew & Bread are freshly baked without MSG and preservatives, or so they claim. Customers are allowed to have their orders toasted prior to being served.

After seeing all their equipment, it did not come as a surprise that they included cold drip coffee in their menu.

Not too bad, I have to admit. Not the best coffee I have had in the Klang Valley but hey, you'd never know where they will be in future with different beans and new baristas.

My Worthy Book experience

Have you heard of Worthy Book? If you have not, you are missing out because inside this book, there are a variety of vouchers to a list of food and beverage outlets in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur. Types of vouchers include Buy 1 Free 1 vouchers, Free Upsize, 50% for 2nd item among others. The vouchers are valid for places such as myBurgerLab, Kim Gary and Tokyo Kitchen. Every edition would have different places, as every year they update their promotions, locations and providers. The edition I used was from September 1, 2014 until August 31, 2015.

I chose to use a Buy 1 Free 1 mocktail voucher for The Burger Factory. I visited their branch at Kota Kemuning with a bestie. We were warmly welcomed into the premises and they knew when we mentioned that we will be using a Worthy Book voucher. We were allowed to choose a table of our choice and were given menus. We browsed through their menu and placed our orders. It was too easy - within minutes, we were enjoying our Absolute Lemongrass and Strawberry Lemon Fizz mocktails.

If you have no idea what to buy as a Christmas pressie or just want to save yourself some cash, get a Worthy Book. They have two editions - one for F&B and one for Ladies including fashion, cosmetics and the sort.

Check them out on their website, FB page, Insta, Twitter, blog and YouTube channel. They are also available for purchase at all major bookstores, such as MPH, Kinokuniya, Popular, Times and Borders, as well as selected myNEWS.com and 7-Eleven outlets in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur. Their latest edition is valid from October 1, 2015 until September 30, 2016.
