"Eh, want to go for amazing pork roll or not? Apparently there is one really good one in Marrickville." Hm, really? Okay, why not, right? No harm trying, just that I had to travel all the way from the North West into the City and then to Marrickville. All the way just for one miserable pork roll.
But what the heck, we are Malaysians and we do everything for food, and that includes traveling. So after a few weeks, we finally managed to set a weekend to go on our pork roll hunt (literally, because we were trying to figure out which stop to sound the bell on the bus and which direction to walk in when we got off too early).
You will not miss this place with its bright red awning with PORK ROLL flashed across it in bold white font. It is a tiny space but sufficient to churn out roll after roll of delicious and awfully cheap good stuff!
We decided to go for the BBQ Pork Roll ($4) and while we waited in line for our turn, I stood there mesmerized by the colours of fresh ingredients on display.
And were those hands fast or what? They were super fast!
We found a spot to sit down (they hardly have enough space for us to stand, let alone have tables and chairs to seat us) and compared how "fat" our rolls were.
Mine had a tad too much fish sauce in it but otherwise, I could tell why they were famous! When are we going again (and we shall grab some gelato from that gelato place, as well, this time)?
